元来、中国から入ってきた文化らしいが、当時のデザインセンスには本当に驚かされる。

This book shows more than 200 masterpieces of Kamakura-bori (Kamakura curved lacquerware) from 14c to 17c with detail explanations. Furthermore this book explains the whole knowledge about Kamakura-bori and also several activities after 17c.
The culture of lacquerware came into Japan from China in 14c. I am very surprised at their impressive design sense.

カラー写真が88点、モノクロ写真が122点、それといくつかのお話という構成。もしかしたら一番好きな本かも。品物の写真の裏ページに著者自身の目で見た解説があり、藍絵付の焼物の見方を共感と共に学ぶことが出来る。品物はどれも名品揃いで、今まで興味なかった人でも、初期伊万里、古伊万里などのファンになること間違い無しだと思う。

This is one of my favorite books actually. The book has lots of pictures (88 color photos and 122 monochrome photos) for wonderful masterpieces of earliest Imari porcelains, old Imari porcelains and so on. Author's very interesting explanation for each porcelain is made on the back page of the photo. I am sure anybody can become a fan of Imari porcelains after reading this book even though the one was not really interested in them.
